As the foundational required course for the NCSP, this training provides a brief introduction to NPS Chainsaw Safety Policy, including terminology and concepts that provide the foundation for safe chainsaw operations. By completing this training, you will fulfill one prerequisite to being qualified as a Sawyer, Working Faller, Journey Level Faller, or Master Faller on NPS lands. Once you fulfill all required prerequisites and competencies, you may request qualification review by an NPS Competency Evaluator or register for training to build competencies to prepare for evaluation at any level.

Target Audience: The target audience for the content is anyone needing to complete the foundational training for the NPS Chainsaw Safety Program (NCSP). The NPS RM-50B states that this NPS chainsaw safety operator e-course is a one-time requirement for initial qualification only: You only need to take this introductory training once to begin qualification as a chainsaw operator. (You must also comply with other training requirements, as outlined in this course.)
