FS509 Crew Resource Management 7 Skills Train the Trainer

This 24-hour CRM 7 Skills Train-the-Trainer course is a comprehensive class that provides in-depth information on the FS CRM 7 Skills program, history of CRM, and each of the 7 critical skills. This class is designed to strengthen and focus the participants’ existing aviation skills and experience into that of a CRM subject matter expert. In addition, it provides a framework for the use of facilitative instructional techniques applied to case studies, that are a critical component of delivering both the Initial and Refresher CRM 7 Skills courses.

Note: FS509 provides a one-way equivalency for A-310.

M-2 Aviation Management Line Managers Briefing

This course has been developed for Line Managers responsible for employees who utilize aircraft in performance of their duties. Areas of emphasis include:

  • DOI Aviation Safety and Accident Prevention Program
  • Procurement of Aviation Services
  • Documentation of Payment Procedures
  • Responsibilities to Employees
  • Risk Management

Note: This course meets the DOI requirements of 352 DM (1.5 B).

Equivalency: Completion of M-3 will meet the M-2 requirement.

RT9059 Crew Resource Management 7 Skills Refresher

This refresher course reviews the importance/history of Crew Resource Management (CRM) and reviews and promotes the understanding of the 7 skills concepts through practical skills application demonstrated in facilitated scenarios throughout the course.

A-455 Overview of Small UAS Operations

This course is an overview and introduction to small UAS aircraft operations. It gives the participant a brief history, overview, and application of small UAS. This is not an operator course. This course will provide managers an overview of how to begin a small UAS program, along with the requirements for operating a small UAS in the National Airspace System, and while working for the DOI/USDA-FS.

A-100 Basic Aviation Safety (Classroom)

The purpose of this course is to provide the aviation user with a foundation of knowledge, skills, and abilities, to safely utilize aircraft to accomplish agency missions. Topics include Mission Preparation and Planning, Pilot and Aircraft Briefings, Operational Safety, Post-Flight Duties, and UAS. 

Note: A-100 now Incorporates A-116 General Awareness Security Training, which is no longer a separate course.

Supervisory Skill and Competency Refresher

Departmental policy and section 412.202 of title 5, Code of Federal Regulations require all supervisors to receive and complete supervisory refresher training every three years of their career as a supervisor.  This certification has been assigned to you as a supervisor of record in the Department who is required to complete supervisory refresher training. 

To meet this requirement you will need to create a supervisory IDP to track your progress towards your supervisory development goal.   

This course is a self certification for the creation of a supervisory Refresher IDP. This course will be a part of the Supervisory Refresher certification and when a user creates and completes a supervisory IDP the user will mark this complete.

NPS Introduction to Search and Rescue Operations (Self-Paced; eDOIU)

This training provides a comprehensive introduction to National Park Service (NPS) Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, including key terminology, policy, and practices for SAR team operations. The target audience for the content is NPS employees, NPS Volunteers-in-Parks, and NPS Partner Organizations that assist in carrying out SAR operations, or anyone interested in learning more about NPS Emergency Services and SAR. 

NPS Introduction to SAR Operations is the prerequisite for an on-site, skills-based training held at the learner’s home park/unit (known as "SAR Days"). By completing this training, you will fulfill one requirement to being certified as a SAR Technician Type 2 on the NPS All Hazard card; SAR Tech Type 2 certification qualifies people to actively participate in NPS SAR operations.

NOTE: Only the public (non-employees who do not have (or will not have) PIV access) can complete this training on eDOIU; any employee with PIV access must complete the course on DOITalent, the DOI learning management system of record.

AS2M Aerial Survey Aviation Safety and Management

AS2M is designed specifically for resource specialists who manage aircraft to safely conduct missions including aerial sketch mapping, photo/remote sensing, wildlife and vegetation surveys, and aerial reconnaissance in general.

FHAK Fuel Handling - Alaska

Employees will learn proper fuel storage, transportation, and handling procedures; safe dispensing and filtering techniques; and proper fuel cache/field site fuel handling. ACETA-R Aerial Capture, Eradication, and Tagging of Animals Refresher Training

The ACETA Refresher course will review topics from the initial training course, cover new or innovative ACETA techniques, review the use of ACETA equipment and may include mock-ups.

Training provided to meet requirements of OPM-40 (Toe-In, Single Skid, and Step-Out Landings). Requires Project Operations Plan, Risk Assessment, and Bureau Aviation Manager's approval.
